Who we are defines what we stand for

Some companies spend hundreds of hours in meetings getting stuck on what seems like a simple question, “What should our core values be?”

At Gundir, we never struggled with this question because we know that our values already exist within ourselves and just naturally emerge from our culture. So we simply flipped the question – asking not who we should be, but who we already are. When we looked into the mirror, the reflection we saw made our mission and values crystal clear.

We each have our own expertise, but our boundaries don’t end there; we stretch to understand each other’s processes. Empathy solves problems, helps us understand each other, and unites us to act as a single engine delivering amazing work.

Though we’re absolutely serious about making our clients successful, we also need to pop the bubble, flip to the light side, make each other grin and giggle and pun-groan from time to time to time to time. After all, timing is everything.

One truth seems universal: the universe is a boomerang and what you put out comes back. Be kind and kindness will happen to you. Make someone laugh, and you’ll soon find yourself laughing. Make your clients successful and you’ll become successful yourself.

Your client’s business is your business. This is your agency. This is your project. These are your teammates. This is your success. And occasionally, this is your mistake. The more you own it, the more each of us owns it, the more successful we’ll be and feel.

Mike Gunderson

President

Mike Gunderson
President

Mike is the founder and president of Gundir, the award-winning direct marketing agency. Since 2003, Gundir has helped businesses drive new leads and close more sales through traditional offline channels, especially direct mail. Its clients have included AAA, Adobe, PayPal, Square, and ZipRecruiter, and the agency consistently ranks among the nation’s top five direct mail agencies. In 2023, Clutch named Gundir the top direct mail agency in the United States.

Mike Gunderson is also the founder and CEO of Respond Now LLC, a direct response product incubator that helps small, medium, and enterprise businesses bring their ideas to market through direct marketing. Its products include PostReminderVoteReminder, and Respond Fast.

In addition to running his companies, Mike has been President of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) Silicon Valley and has served on the EO board for over eight years. He is also a board member of Inclusive Sports Foundation, which provides inclusive physical and social activities for children with special needs.

Mike spends his free time with his wife and three kids. He enjoys mountain biking on the Pleasanton Ridge and frequent rides through the San Francisco East Bay on his Morgan 3 Wheeler and Triumph motorcycle.

Jeff Tarran

Jeff Tarran
COO

Jeff has been with Gundir since 2017 and has played a significant role in the growth of the agency’s client base while helping to manage growth across agency departments.

Prior to joining GD, Jeff headed up two independent direct response agencies, including Wayfinder, which he founded and ran for fifteen years. He’s a 25+ year veteran and direct marketing thought leader who regularly contributes content to marketing publications, is a podcast guest, and authors a blog on direct mail topics.

He earned a Dual BS in management and communications at Syracuse University and an MBA in marketing at Columbia University in New York. Jeff serves on the communications committee of Working Solutions, a local CDFI non-profit that provides low-interest loans to disadvantaged entrepreneurs. Jeff and his wife share a love of international travel and enjoy attending performance and fine art events — notably anything that has to do with the Grateful Dead.

Lindsay Weisgerber

Lindsay Weisgerber
VP Account Services

Lindsay is passionate about bringing to life creative ideas built on strategy and analytics. Her 15 years of advertising and marketing experience, plus her leadership, commitment to excellence, positive attitude, and attention to detail make her a trusted partner and advocate for her team and clients.

Prior to joining Gundir, Lindsay was an Associate Vice President at Pursuant, committed to developing and implementing DM-driven integrated fundraising campaigns enabling non-profits to touch people’s hearts and connect them to organizations that are making a difference in the world.

Earlier in her career, she was an Account Supervisor at TracyLocke managing the Pizza Hut national business; the world’s largest pizza chain. Her team specialized in developing creative strategies and executing all corporate print, merchandising, packaging, photography, email, social and online advertising.

Lindsay loves collaborating with a team whose ultimate goal is to work hard, dream big, and achieve breakthrough results.

She lives in McKinney, Texas with her husband and three kids. They love to be outside, whether it be playing in the front yard with neighbors, camping in Broken Bow or enjoying good food out on the patio.

Alexa has over 30 years in Direct Marketing experience — B2B, B2C, and government. From direct mail catalogs to marketing CRM databases, she has always believed in the power of targeting the right audience in the right way. She partners with clients in data strategy, measurement, and stewardship. She is passionate about connecting marketing investments to a positive impact on sales.

When she is not digging into a new challenge, she likes listening to live music, practicing her short game, exploring the new marketing technology advancements coming out of the Bay Area, and visiting her family.

Carolyn is a passionate, direct marketer with expertise in direct mail print production. She comes to Gundir with several years of experience in direct mail fulfillment, mail piece design, and print management and sourcing.

When Carolyn isn’t strategizing on the next big thing in print marketing, she enjoys traveling with her husband, experiencing new wine and food, and walking her sweet black lab Bianca as much as she can!

As if that’s not enough, he’s the official agency geek, leading our efforts to build processes and tools enabling us to manage our clients’ businesses efficiently. Outside of agency life, Mike enjoys dining out, watching movies, visiting the California coast, and fishing.

Husam (Sam) Kublawi

Sam is a data problem solver. His deep expertise in customer acquisition and retention comes from over 25 years of experience working at data powerhouses such as Epsilon and RL Polk and for major clients across numerous categories including financial services, retail and entertainment.

Sam doesn’t just find and analyze databases for clients, he builds them, too. He’s created targeted universes through analytic solutions, ranging from simple data profiles to robust modeling techniques —always with a focus on data quality. His skills also extend to designing and implement primary marketing research solutions.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys watching Liverpool, his favorite football team (don’t tell him it’s really soccer). He loves spending time outdoors enjoying nature, relaxing at home with his family and two dogs, and learning about other cultures through travel.

Outside of work, Jaime enjoys relaxing at home with her family, dining out, watching movies, and planning their next Disney and beach vacation.

Caroline runs things. Even when she left corporate life to pursue her love of diving, she ended up running a dive shop on a Caribbean Island. Since her job included marketing the business, running tours and teaching people how to dive, she seemed like the perfect person to help keep our clients’ projects “afloat.”

In her current role, she runs accounts both solo and as an assistant to more senior staff all of whom rely on her attention to detail and get-it-done attitude.

When not working, Caroline is on the run. Literally. She’s a runner who also loves cooking and is always looking for her next travel adventure.

Outside of work, Laney is up for any new adventure. Traveling, boating, snowboarding, playing volleyball, hiking, trying new food, or wine tasting: you name it, and she’ll be there!

She is a Bay Area native who loves doing anything outdoors.  When the weather is warm you can usually find her kayaking on a lake or hiking one of Northern California’s beautiful trails with her wife and daughter.  In colder months she is most likely bundled up with one of the blankets she’s made and reading a historical novel.
